Most of our sales are to people who wish to sell their own images as greeting cards. These include artists, painters, photographers and designers who wish to see their images in print. Many of our customers have started out ordering a few designs and sold them locally. Some of these people have gone on to found a full time business. If you have a retail outlet such as a shop, garden centre, fuel station, art gallery, public house, club, church, hair dressers or anywhere else that the public visit, then you are half way there.
No. We do not think it is fair that you should have to trust us totally, so we trust you instead. When you place an order, we set up the layout and artwork, then email a proof to you to show you exactly what you will receive. If there are any changes to the artwork or layout, just let us know and we will make them and re-proof. When you are totally happy with the proof(s), just let us know and we will then send you a pro-forma invoice, requesting payment by BACS transfer or by credit/debit card using PayPal (totally secure). Once you have paid us (online by BACS is the easiest) we will print and despatch your greeting cards. We want you to be totally happy. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied after we have sent you the proof(s), just cancel the order and you will owe us nothing. Sounds fair?
That depends upon the images and whether you have outlets locally willing to sell them. Attractive images will always sell and most greeting card outlets are always looking for new and attractive designs to offer to their ever-changing supply of customers. Most families buy over eighty greeting cards per annum, not including Christmas cards. It is usually the lady of the house that buys most of the greeting cards. The market for greeting cards is vast. One in every six retail outlets sell greeting cards.
Greeting cards are a high margin product. If you sell through a retailer, they are going to want to double the price that they pay you and then add VAT. So if you sell them a card greeting card wholesale at 95p, they will double this and add VAT to get their retail price. 95p x 2 = £1.90 plus VAT. This means that they will sell the cards to the public at £2.25 - £2.30. Most greeting card wholesalers sell each card design in quantities of six, so the trade price of six cards of one design in this instance would be £5.70. Of course, if you have an outlet yourself, such as a gift shop, an art gallery, a picture framers or even a pub or care home, then you keep the retailers part of the profit as well.
As much or as little as you wish. The studio have vast experience of greeting card layout and will create accurate, professional artwork for you. There is NO extra charge for this service. Of course, you are very welcome to supply your own finished artwork if you wish. No cards are printed until you are 100% happy with the proof that you receive.
Our most popular size is 5" x 7", followed by A5. However, our 140mm square greeting cards are also incredibly popular and seem to retail very well. We also produce budget priced greeting cards in A6 size which are popular as wedding thank-you cards, invitations etc. See our Greeting Card Sizes .
We offer our printed greeting cards in two finishes. Satin finish and Gloss finish. Satin finish is a satin smooth finish with a an attractive, slight sheen on the image areas. Gloss finish as a shiny coating on the outside front and back of the greeting cards, leaving the inside plain so that it can be written on. As the gloss laminating is an extra process it costs more and takes a little longer. Satin finish cards are the most popular.
Yes you can. Our minimum quantity is just 50 cards in any size. This means that you can order just a few greeting cards to 'dip your toe in the water' and show some potential retailers the quality of your work. It also means that you can order printed greeting cards as wedding thank-you cards, birth announcements, party invitations or for any other purpose. If you are planning to sell your greeting cards, once you know which designs will be the most popular, you can make considerable savings by ordering in larger quantities.
It seems not. Quite the reverse! The latest Greeting Cards Association Market Report shows that in 2018 the UK public spent more on greeting cards than ever before – taking the market value up to a value of £1.75 billion. The vast majority of greeting cards are still bought in bricks and mortar stores, rather than online and they remain an important, highly-profitable product for all manner of retailers, being sold in one in six of all UK retail outlets. No other country has such a tradition of greeting card sending or greeting card display in the home - the sending and receiving of greeting cards is an important part of the British culture. Interestingly, 85% of all greeting cards are bought by women. While many people also wish their friends and family a Happy Birthday on social media, a printed card is very much more personal and show much more thought and love. This is probably why they remain so popular. You can't put an email on the mantlepiece!
Despatch is usually 5-7 working days from proof acceptance. Our studio will process your artwork within a few days of receipt of the order. We then email a PDF proof to your for you to check the layout and wording. Once you pass the proof)s) we will print the cards within a few working days, crease them to fold, pack them with envelopes if appropriate and get them off to you pronto!
Yes they do. We work for many professional artists, professional photographers, professional designers and lots of small to medium greeting card publishers. However, they all had to start somewhere and many of our professionals started off by just ordering a few greeting cards from a limited range of designs, so that they could be sure what sells for them.
